Graduation Procedures

  1. Students should submit the Specialized Study in Museum Theory and Practice Request for Completion form when all program requirements are completed (two core courses, two electives, and a six-credit hour internship). Generally this is completed in the semester that the student expects to graduate. Note: It is the student’s responsibility to submit the Request for Completion form in a timely manner.
  2. After degrees are posted to transcripts, usually during the first few weeks of the semester following graduation, the Specialized Study Academic Coordinator reviews student files to ensure that all requirements have been met for the specialized study.
  3. Students can expect to receive letters of completion by the end of the semester following graduation. It is important to make sure the Request for Completion form includes the student’s name as it is to be printed on the letter and a mailing address that the student is sure will be current 3-4 months after graduation.
  4. The Specialized Study in Museum Theory and Practice does not in any way affect graduation from the individual degree program UNLESS the student needs the requirements of the Specialized Study in Museum Theory and Practice program to complete her/his specific degree (see department for specific requirements). Students will not receive the Specialized Study in Museum Theory and Practice letter of completion until they have fulfilled all requirements for their graduate degree.
